Kintsugi: The Japanese Art of Celebrating Flaws with Alice Tingley (W25)

When pottery or china breaks, Japanese artisans repair and glorify the cracks with gold. They reconstruct the broken piece, using the repairs as integral parts of the finished design. The results are stunning objects, with flaws as the centerpiece. In this class, we will have hands-on experience using gold, bronze, and silver leaf. The methods we will use will enhance the repairs. We will push the boundaries of traditional Kintsugi so we can use our artistic sense to make the pieces awesome.
