Explore the art and craft of weaving on the 2 ½” x 5 ½” HELLO LOOM — the little loom that will lead to big ideas. We will use a variety of yarns, including paper, wool and linen, as we try our hand at weaving. During the last two weeks of class, students can experiment with other small looms from the teacher’s collection.
Hello! Looms were developed by Marianne Fairbanks in 2016 during her social weaving project, the Weaving Lab. Erica Hess joined the project in 2017, and the two launched the looms commercially in 2019. The design is efficient, focusing on refined features such as the wooden needles, comb and integrated display stand. From Hello! Looms: “We steadfastly believe changing our focus from the fast-paced, screen-focused world by engaging in weaving will connect our hands and mind, reconnect us to the pleasure of materials, and promote creativity.”
