Member Policies and Procedures

Communication Policies & Procedures

  1. Electronic mail will be used for members who wish to receive email communication from the Club. All other members will receive communication via traditional mail.
  2. All mailings will be sent via USPS mail and/or email.
  3. Advertisements or service offerings may be circulated or posted in the Club and tickets may be offered for sale only with the advance approval of the Executive Committee.
  4. Cell phones must be silenced in all areas of the Club. However, cell phone use is permitted in the coatroom.
  5. Telephone numbers and email addresses are solely for the use of Club members and are NOT to be shared with non-members.
  6. Only emails and phone-tree calling sanctioned by the Board and/or Executive Committee can be distributed to the membership-at-large.
  7. Members are encouraged to share their comments and recommendations concerning all aspects with the Board and the Club Manager. Please submit all comments to the Club Manager via email.

Days/Hours of Operation

  1. The Club is open from 8:30 to 4 pm, Monday through Thursday, and Friday 8:30 – 12:30. Any change in hours will be posted on the website and in the Clubhouse.
  2. The Clubhouse will be closed on the following holidays: New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, the Fourth of July, Victory Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas.
  3. The Handicraft Club will follow the Providence School System for weather related closings. When the Providence schools are on a vacation week, the Handicraft Club will be closed if there is a weather related parking ban in the City of Providence. See our Club website for weather related notices. Morning classes at the Club will be cancelled if there is a delayed opening of the Providence Public Schools.

Membership Conduct Policy

This policy is designed to ensure enjoyment of the greatest number of members, and observance by all is requested, in order that a few careless or thoughtless ones may not impose upon the rights of others. Members shall abide by the behaviors intrinsic to the Club’s Values Statement Policy, including but not limited to, courteous interactions between members, between members and staff and between members and teachers. Members shall abide by the Club’s policies.

  1. For infractions the Club shall provide a means for a member/staff/teacher who feels violated by a member to file a complaint with the Board (either via email, letter or verbal notification to a Board member).
  2. For first infraction, a subset of Board may meet with violating member and discuss conduct and expectations c. For second and third infractions, Board may issue letter of reprimand.
  3. After two letters, Board may move to a Bylaws action of suspension or dismissal from Club.
