Join us on Thursday, November 12th at 1:30 for our next free artist lecture with Mary Jameson.
Mary Jameson is an international multimedia artist based at Saltwater Studio in Newport, RI. Her nature inspired art of seaweed pressing is transformed into cyanotype and eco printing. Central to her work is the relationship between humans and the natural world, highlighting the complexity and fragility of the coastal ecosystems. Her award-winning work has been displayed in many Rhode Island art museums including Newport Art Museum and New Bedford Whaling Museum.
Mary’s lecture will include the history on this rare Victorian art form and a demonstration on working with the intricate forms of marine algae, forged seaweed, and other coastal textures. This art form can be utilized in many mixed multimedia forms of art including journaling, watercolor, decoupage, and more. Truly a lecture not to miss.
Mary will also be leading a workshop in seaweed pressing in the winter class term.
